Those numbers tell the real story. Golspie wins roughly one race in every twelve outings, a modest win rate that would test most owners' patience. At Class 5 level, where he spends most of his time, he has won just one from 21 races, which shows how hard it is even at that grade. His partnership with regular rider David Nolan has been similarly modest — one win from ten rides together. Yet what matters is that Morris understands this horse's ceiling and knows how to hit it. On the right surface, with the right conditions, Golspie is capable. Last week proved he still has that ability when everything aligns.

Recent form suggests he remains active and competitive. In his last six outings he has picked up three places and finished sixth only once, suggesting he is holding his form at least respectably. At six years old, with four wins banked and the knowledge of what ground brings out his best, Golspie appears to be a horse Morris will continue to campaign carefully — waiting for the soft conditions that turn him from a moderate competitor into a winner.
