There is no prior form to pick over here — this is a first race, full stop. What we do know is that Goliath's Sun is by Goliath Du Berlais, a sire whose offspring tend to be built for jumping rather than sprinting, and the dam's side carries the influence of Authorized, a horse who won the Epsom Derby and who brings a touch of class to the bloodline. Whether any of that translates to the track on day one is the whole question.
Debut runners are genuinely fascinating to watch. Without a record to judge, everything is possible — and the team at Kilcullen clearly thought the horse was ready. That in itself is worth noting.
