Goin'

The recent form tells a slightly more encouraging story, at least up to a point. Finishing third and then fifth twice in its last six races suggests the horse is competitive enough to be in the mix — but there is a gulf between finishing third and actually winning, and Goin' has not managed to bridge it in any of those six outings. The two results further back, a 15th and a 17th, hint that the horse has had some rougher patches too. It raced just one day ago, so it is very much an active campaigner right now.

Goin' is trained by A.J. Martin at Summerhill in County Meath, a yard that has sent out 13 winners this season — so the team clearly knows how to get horses to win. That makes the fact that this particular horse has not found the winner's enclosure all the more curious. Sometimes a horse simply needs the right conditions, the right race, or just a day when everything clicks. Whether that day comes for Goin' remains the open question.
