What makes the picture slightly more encouraging is the company Go Try keeps. Robbie Llewellyn's yard in Wroughton, Wiltshire, has sent out 14 winners already this season, which tells you this is not a struggling operation hoping for luck — this is a trainer who knows how to get horses winning. That Go Try hasn't clicked yet is not necessarily a reflection on the team around it, and yards that are firing on all cylinders tend to find ways to place their horses in races they can win. The question is whether Go Try has the ability to take advantage when that opportunity comes.
Having raced just yesterday, Go Try is clearly an active project rather than a horse being nursed along. Three races at seven years old is a relatively light record, and it may simply be that the right conditions or right race haven't shown up yet. But for now, the scoreboard reads as bluntly as it looks: no wins, no places, and a lot of work still to do.
