The injury setback that followed clearly cost Giddyupadingdong time and momentum. He has run just once since joining the Mulholland yard and has not won in his last six races, but Mulholland has spoken positively about his current condition, describing him as being in good form right now. That matters, because a horse coming back from a layoff needs time to find itself again, and the signs are apparently encouraging.

When he does hit form, the evidence points to a distance of one mile six furlongs up to two miles being his sweet spot — he has won one from four races at those trips, giving him a 25% win rate over that range, comfortably his best of anywhere. Jockey Bradley Harris has been aboard for five of his seven races and the pair have that single win together, which at 1 in 5 is a decent return. Mulholland's yard has sent out 60 winners already this season, so there is clearly momentum behind the operation. Giddyupadingdong raced just yesterday, which means he is firmly in training and in the mix. Whether a return to somewhere like Huntingdon, the scene of his finest hour, could unlock something is a question worth watching.
