Shorten the distance or take away the juice in the ground, and it becomes a different proposition entirely. But get the conditions right, and Ghaiyya is a genuine threat.

Joe Fanning has been the regular partner, riding in 7 of the 12 races and winning 2 of them — that is roughly 1 in every 3.5 rides together, which is a solid return. The pair were aboard for that Doncaster win this week, which matters: continuity between horse and jockey at this stage of a season often means a trainer is building towards something.

These are not the biggest stages in British racing, but Ghaiyya is making a habit of being in the winner's enclosure, and a horse that wins this consistently tends to be pointed at bigger tests sooner or later.
