Geturguccion

The partnership with jockey Philip Armson has been given a fair run — five races together — and it has not clicked yet, with nothing to show from those five attempts. At seven years old, Geturguccion is no youngster still learning the ropes. This is a horse that should know its job by now, which makes the persistent winless record harder to explain away.

It competes almost exclusively at Class 4, which represents the middle tier of British racing — not the very bottom, but nowhere near the big occasions either. Seven races at that level and not a single win suggests the horse is simply finding its opponents too strong, even at a grade where most horses eventually get their moment. Trainer Alan King is a well-respected name, and his yard at Wroughton has sent out 56 winners this season alone — so the support is clearly there. Whether Geturguccion can finally repay that support is the open question. It raced just yesterday, so at the very least it is fit and active. Whether fit and active is enough remains to be seen.
