Getaway Charlie wins roughly once every fourteen races across a career span, which tells you this is not a horse built for the front of the programme, but rather one that earns its keep by showing up and doing the business when the moment comes.

Ridden most often by Mr D Doyle — they have partnered sixteen times together, with one win — Getaway Charlie is trained by Timothy Doyle at Moyne, Co Tipperary. That first career win came at Punchestown in October 2023, a milestone the horse has now followed up with the Roscommon success three years later. Recent form suggests the horse is still sharp. A seventh place just yesterday means Getaway Charlie is actively campaigned and clearly still capable of competing, even if the wins are few and far between. For a ten-year-old, that is a genuine achievement in itself.
