That opportunity arrived at Ffos Las on 17 June 2026. The Welsh track, tucked into the countryside near Llanelli, provided the breakthrough, and Gelato got off the mark there just days ago. Since then the recent form has shown real improvement — a 6th and now that winning 1 — suggesting this is a horse that may finally be finding its stride at exactly the right moment.
The trainer behind it is Adrian Wintle, who operates out of Westbury-On-Severn in Gloucestershire. Wintle's yard has been in excellent nick this season, sending out 30 winners — a number that tells you this is not a small operation getting lucky, but a team that clearly knows how to get a horse ready to win. When a yard is firing like that, a horse finally breaking through feels less like a surprise and more like something that was coming.
Whether Gelato can build on this first win is the question worth watching. The profile so far is of a horse that needed time and the right conditions to show what it can do. Now that it has, the next few races will tell us whether Ffos Las was a turning point or a one-off.
