Trained by Donnacha Aidan O'Brien out of Ballyroe in County Tipperary, Gatlinburg is in capable hands. O'Brien's yard has already sent out 30 winners this season, which is a serious number — that kind of output means horses are well-prepared and the team knows how to place them to their best advantage. A horse with no wins yet sitting in that string is either still developing or waiting for the right opportunity, and very likely both.

The recent form figures — a fourth and an eighth in its last two completed runs — aren't flashy, but they're not embarrassing either. The horse raced just yesterday, so it's very much in active campaign mode right now. Whether the team are trying to find its ideal conditions or simply building experience, five races at three years old is still early days. Plenty of horses take time to click, and with a yard firing on all cylinders around it, Gatlinburg's first win may not be far away.
