The most recent victory came at Cartmel back in May 2024, which is now nearly two years ago, and the last six races have all ended without a win. That drought will be the thing its trainer Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero most want to snap — their yard at Oldcastle in Cheshire has been in strong form this season, sending out 43 winners, so the firepower is clearly there. What Gaboriot needs is the right day.

Interestingly, the ground seems to matter less than you might expect. Whether the track is wet and muddy or riding under normal conditions, Gaboriot wins at almost exactly the same rate — 1 in every 3 races on both surfaces. That kind of consistency across different conditions is genuinely useful; plenty of horses are specialists that fall apart the moment the weather changes, but this one adapts. The one surface to avoid is fast, dry ground, where the record drops off noticeably.

The partnership with jockey Henry Brooke is harder to explain. Despite five races together, they have not yet found the winner's enclosure as a pair. That is a small sample, but it is worth watching — sometimes a change of jockey is all it takes to unlock a horse that has been running well without quite getting there.

Gaboriot made its first career win at Kempton Park in October 2023 and has since shown it is most at home at the lower end of the class structure, winning roughly 1 in every 3.5 races at that level. It is not a horse chasing glory at the biggest meetings, but it is a consistent, durable competitor who is still racing actively — its last run was just 10 days ago. For a horse of 10, that is no small thing.
