The recent form reads 4th, 6th, 6th going back through the last three races, and that latest run was just yesterday, so this is a horse very much in the thick of its season. Finishing fourth in one of those outings shows there is at least some ability there — it is the back-to-back sixth-place finishes that suggest something has not quite clicked yet, whether that is finding the right race, the right conditions, or simply needing more experience.
What works in Frisky Whiskey's favour is the yard. Brian Ellison operates out of Norton in North Yorkshire and has sent out 43 winners already this season — that is a stable in good form, not one that is struggling to get horses ready to run well. When a trainer is firing at that kind of rate, horses in the yard tend to be fit, well-prepared, and placed in races that suit them. Ellison has been around long enough to know when to be patient with a horse and when to push. The fact that Frisky Whiskey ran just yesterday tells you the team believe there is something worth drawing out here.
Zero from three is not a record to shout about, but three races is still a small sample. Plenty of horses take time to find their feet, and with an active trainer and another run already in the legs this week, the next few outings will tell us a lot more about what Frisky Whiskey is actually capable of.
