Fringill Dike

The most striking thing about this horse is what happens when it goes to Hexham. Four races there, four wins — a perfect record at a track where plenty of good horses have come unstuck. That kind of course dominance is rare. Some horses simply suit a particular track's layout, its turns, its undulations, and Fringill Dike has clearly found its happy place in Northumberland. It all started there too, with a first career win on 17 March 2022, and the relationship with the place has only grown stronger since.

Competing regularly at Class 2 level — one step below the very best races in Britain — this horse has won 2 of its 11 races at that grade, or roughly 1 in every 5 or 6 attempts. That might sound modest, but Class 2 is proper company, and simply being competitive at that level week after week says something about the quality of the horse. The wins at Newton Abbot in August 2024 and Bangor-on-Dee in May 2024 showed that Fringill Dike can deliver on big occasions away from its home comforts too.

The partnership with jockey Charlie Hammond is worth noting. In 7 races together, they've won 4 — that's winning 4 in every 7 rides, a phenomenal hit rate by any standard, and the sort of number that suggests the two have a real understanding. The horse is trained by Jedd O'Keeffe, who operates out of Coverham in North Yorkshire and has had 20 winners already this season — a yard clearly in fine form.

Most importantly, Fringill Dike is not a horse living off past glories. It raced just yesterday and won at Market Rasen as recently as 12 June 2026. The recent form reads 2-1-6-4-4-5, meaning a win and a runner-up in the last two outings — this horse is bang in form right now, at 9 years old, still competing at a high level. That combination of longevity, course dominance, and current sharpness makes it one of the more interesting names to follow in northern racing.
