His peak came in the spring and early summer of 2025. He won a Class 2 at Goodwood on 24 May, then returned to triumph again in Class 2 company at Ascot just three weeks later, on 17 June. Those back-to-back victories at two of Britain's most respected tracks suggested a horse in genuine form, capable of mixing it with the best. But then something stopped. In the six races since that Ascot win fourteen months ago, French Master has failed to cross the line first, though he has picked up three places and two third-place finishes, showing he still has the ability to run respectably. His most recent outing was just a day ago, and the most recent result in his record reads as a mid-field finish — evidence that the yard are still running him and hunting for a return to winning form.

The Gosden yard, with 140 winners sent out this season alone, knows how to train a horse to peak at the right moment. French Master's career stretches back to his first win at Doncaster on 5 July 2024, meaning he has now been in work for over a year and has established himself as a genuine top-level operator. The question now is whether he can rediscover that touch from the summer of 2025, or whether he is in a difficult spell. At five years old and with his credentials proven, he is far from finished — but recent history suggests he needs a breakthrough run soon.
