French Artist made its racecourse debut just over a day ago and finished fifth. The two-year-old, trained by
Ollie Sangster at Marlborough in Wiltshire, is still very much at the beginning of its career, and a single outing tells almost nothing about what it might become. Sangster's yard has already sent out 46 winners this season, suggesting the trainer knows how to prepare horses to win — so there will be proper races ahead for French Artist once it has learned what racing demands. For now, it is simply a horse that has run once and is waiting for its next chance.
