That single win came at Punchestown in April 2023, which is now over three years ago. Punchestown is one of Ireland's most celebrated tracks, so there is at least a decent story attached to the one moment of glory. Since then, across the last six races, the results read 5th, 6th, a pulled-up run, then two 4th-place finishes, and a 2nd most recently — which is actually a sign of life. Second place is not a win, but it is the closest Fr Gilligansvoyge has come in a long while, and at this stage of a career, that counts as encouragement.
Regular partner Jake Coen has ridden this horse eight times without a win between them, though given the overall record that is less a reflection on Coen and more just the reality of the horse's ceiling. What you have here is a tough, durable animal who finds places more often than winners' enclosures, has kept racing deep into its teens, and whose the yard clearly still believe there is a race to be won somewhere. Whether that day comes is another matter — but Fr Gilligansvoyge keeps turning up, and at 13, that is its own kind of achievement.
