In six races there, Fort Augustus has won twice — that's 1 in every 3 visits to that track, which is a remarkable return for a horse that has found winning hard to come by elsewhere. The first win came on 11 April 2026, and the second arrived just days ago on 21 May. When a horse keeps coming back to the same track and keeps finding the winning post, that is not coincidence — it is a genuine affinity, and smart punters notice exactly this kind of pattern.

There are other things working in its favour too. On normal ground conditions, Fort Augustus wins 2 from 11 races — roughly 1 in every 5 or 6 attempts, which is well above its overall average. And at distances between seven furlongs and a mile, the record improves again: 2 wins from just 6 races, meaning it wins 1 in 3 at the trips that suit it best. Put it on normal ground, over a mile or thereabouts, at Southwell, and you are looking at a horse operating in its comfort zone.

The one complication in the picture is class. Fort Augustus has run eight times at Class 5 level — one step up from the bottom of the British racing ladder — and has yet to win at that grade, losing all eight. The two wins have come when the horse has been dropped into softer company. That tells you something honest about where it belongs in the pecking order, but it does not diminish what it has achieved.
