That sole win came at Meydan in Dubai on 30 March 2024, and it remains the only time Forever Young has been seen at its very best. The fact that the most recent form shows a third place followed by that win — reading back from most recent — suggests this is a horse that was building towards something before the wheels stopped turning. And stop they did: Forever Young hasn't raced in roughly 13 months, a significant absence that will have plenty of people wondering what comes next.
Long gaps like this can mean many things — a minor setback, a careful training programme, or simply patience from a team waiting for the right opportunity. What it does mean is that when Forever Young does return, there will be questions to answer. Can a horse with only two races under its belt, and over a year off the track, pick up where it left off? The talent is clearly there. The record is spotless in the sense that this horse has never finished out of the places. But two races is a small sample, and 13 months is a long time. The next run will tell us far more about what Forever Young actually is than anything we've seen so far.
