Fool Me Once

Gavin Cromwell's yard at Navan is hardly the problem. The trainer has sent out 96 winners this season and clearly knows how to prepare horses to win races. Keith Donoghue, who has ridden Fool Me Once five times, hasn't managed to unlock anything better either — their partnership stands at zero wins from five attempts. At this stage of his career and after 16 races without a victory, Fool Me Once looks like the sort of horse who simply may not have what it takes at any level that would get him across the line first. He remains active and in work, but the question for the yard is really whether chasing that elusive first win is still worth the effort, or whether he has already told them everything he ever will.
