That lone win came over a distance between one mile six furlongs and two miles, which is still the range where Folly Beach shows its best form — 1 win from 18 races at those longer trips, a win rate of around 1 in every 18. That's still modest, but it's clearly where the horse is most at home, and those distances suit horses with stamina rather than pure speed.

The most regular partnership has been with jockey Liam McKenna, who has ridden Folly Beach 11 times without finding the winner's enclosure together. Recent form hasn't offered much encouragement either — the last six outings include an eighth, a tenth, a second, a blank, a thirteenth, and a seventh, with the second place the only real bright spot. Trained by M A Molloy out of Thurles in County Tipperary, the yard has sent out four winners this season, so there is form in the camp — it just hasn't come Folly Beach's way. The horse raced as recently as yesterday and remains in active training, so the yard clearly believe there's another moment waiting somewhere down the line. Whether Leopardstown lightning strikes twice remains to be seen.
