Since that win at Aintree nearly two years ago, Florida Dreams has struggled to return to the winner's enclosure. His recent form tells the story: in his last six outings he has finished nowhere near the front, with his best effort a third-place finish. He has not won in over two years, and his record at Class 2 level—the tier just below the very top races—is stark: zero wins from ten attempts. The horse is clearly most effective over longer distances, winning one from three races at distances between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, yet even this strength has not translated to consistent success.

There is a bright spot, though. Jockey Danny McMenamin has partnered Florida Dreams four times and won aboard him on two occasions, a 29% win rate that stands out sharply against the horse's overall record. McMenamin's comments after the Aintree success suggested a horse with genuine ability: tough, speedy enough for the trip, and capable of staying the distance. The trainer has also spoken of the horse's potential for hurdling and longer-distance racing on better ground. Florida Dreams raced just a day ago, so he remains very much in work, even if the wins have dried up. For a horse that once beat top-class opposition, finding his way back to that level would be the comeback story his the yard clearly still believe is possible.
