Balding's yard is in excellent form this season, with 204 winners already sent out, so Floating Market will have benefited from experienced hands during its early preparation. For a young horse at the start of its racing career, a debut run is primarily about learning the ropes — getting used to the track, the noise, the other horses, and the whole business of racing. A fifth-place finish first time out is unremarkable and tells us little about what the horse might achieve with more experience. Since the horse is still active and raced relatively recently, the yard are clearly planning more runs in the near future.
