The horse broke through at Sandown Park on 6 August, then added a second win at Haydock Park on 5 September. Since that last victory three weeks ago, First Law has raced once more, finishing unplaced — still active and still competing at a high level. Over its last three outings, the horse has won once, placed once, and failed to trouble the placings once, a pattern that suggests genuine ability tempered by the inconsistency you might expect from a young animal still finding its feet in racing.

What stands out is the speed of development. Two wins from three starts at an age when many horses are still learning how to race is genuinely impressive, and the fact that First Law is trained by Appleby — one of Britain's most high-profile yards — suggests the horse has the physical tools to keep improving. At two years old, there is every reason to think the best may be ahead.
