Fighting Tears

The recent runs tell a more complicated story. After winning that first race, Fighting Tears has come up empty in three straight outings, with finishes of sixth, sixth, and fourth most recently. That fourth-place finish came just yesterday, so the horse is an active runner still being campaigned at the sharp end. Trainer A Oliver, who is based at Caledon in Co Tyrone, runs a competitive yard and has already sent out 18 winners this season, so Fighting Tears is in capable hands. The challenge now is whether the horse can rediscover the form that brought that debut success at The Curragh two months ago, or whether that first win was a flash in the pan. At this early stage, there is not enough evidence either way — but the yard clearly believes there is more to come.
