Ferrybank

The most recent win came at Leopardstown in June 2024, which is now roughly two years ago, and the last six races have brought nothing better than a second place — the rest have been mid-field finishes at best. That recent run of form (finishing outside the top two in five of the last six) means Ferrybank is currently in one of those patches every horse goes through, where the results are not coming despite still racing. It raced just one day ago, so this is an active, working horse right now.

Where things get genuinely interesting is Dundalk. Two wins from 13 races there makes it one of Ferrybank's most productive hunting grounds — a 15% win rate at a single track is meaningful when you consider how many places a horse might race across a career. It was also at Dundalk where the first career win arrived, back in January 2024. Normal ground is clearly preferred too: both of those Dundalk wins came on standard conditions, and the record of 2 wins from 14 races on similar ground (14%, roughly 1 in every 7) is comfortably the best surface record in the book.

The partnership with jockey W J Lee is worth noting. Together they have won 3 of their 16 races — that's nearly 1 in every 5, a win rate of 19% — which is meaningfully higher than Ferrybank's overall average. When Lee is in the saddle, things tend to go better. Trainer T M Walsh, based at Kill in County Kildare, has sent out six winners already this season, so the yard is in decent working order. Whether Ferrybank can add to that tally is the question — but the Dundalk record, the ground preference, and the right jockey combination give this horse a genuine chance next time those conditions line up.
