Fenlander

Part of that story involves finding the right conditions. On fast, dry ground, Fenlander wins 2 from 6 races — that's 33%, or roughly 1 in every 3 — which is a seriously impressive ratio and suggests the horse is a different animal when the sun has been out. Trainers and owners spend a lot of time chasing the right conditions for their horses, and Mrs P Sly, who trains Fenlander from her yard in Thorney, Cambridgeshire, seems to have worked out exactly what brings the best out of this one. Her yard has sent out 7 winners already this season, so there is clearly a team in form behind this run.

Leicester also deserves a mention. Fenlander has won 2 from 5 races there — 40% of its visits — and it was at Leicester on 25 May 2026 that the horse recorded its first career win. Some horses simply suit a particular track, whether it's the shape of the bends, the camber of the ground, or something harder to pin down. Whatever the reason, Fenlander and Leicester have a relationship worth noting.

There is one caveat worth flagging. Fenlander has spent most of its career in Class 5 company — the lower end of the racing ladder — and has yet to win a race at that level, with 0 wins from 7 attempts. The three wins in this current streak have come elsewhere, and it will be interesting to see whether the horse can transfer this form back into those races. For now, though, Fenlander is the kind of horse casual racegoers love: a slow burner who has suddenly found its best, racking up wins at pace and showing no signs of stopping.
