Those two wins came at Irish tracks with real character. The first arrived at Killarney in August 2025, a picturesque course in County Kerry that tends to bring out the best in horses who travel well. The second, and most recent, came at Listowel in late September 2025 — a track with a fierce local following and a week-long festival that makes it one of the most atmospheric venues in Irish racing. Winning there means something. That was eight months ago now, and Fast Felix hasn't reached the winner's enclosure since, but with a run just yesterday, the search is clearly still on.

The most intriguing subplot in this story is the partnership with jockey G B Noonan. Nine races together, zero wins — and yet the combination keeps being tried. That kind of loyalty either speaks to a trainer who trusts his jockey to find the improvement eventually, or to a horse that simply hasn't yet found the right day. Trainer Eoin Christopher McCarthy, who operates out of Athea in County Limerick, has sent out 15 winners this season, so the yard clearly knows how to get horses fit and ready. Fast Felix just hasn't been one of the lucky ones lately.

The recent form — a win, then a fifth, then a blank run, then a ninth, a fourth, and a seventh reading backwards from yesterday — paints a picture of a horse whose best days come in bursts rather than in a steady flow. At eight years old, Fast Felix isn't going to reinvent itself, but horses like this often find a race that suits them perfectly and remind everyone exactly why they kept showing up. The team at Athea clearly believes another moment like Listowel is still possible. Given what this horse has shown on its good days, it's hard to argue otherwise.
