Recent form shows only mid-field finishes: sixth, sixth, sixth, eighth, and sixth again in its last five outings. Yet the horse remains active, having raced just a day ago, which suggests its the yard still believe there is another win left in it somewhere.

James Best, who has been Fast Deal's most frequent rider, has partnered with the horse five times without success. That partnership has produced no wins and no real shape of imminent victory. For a horse that has spent nearly three years without a win, even modest improvements—a fourth or third-place finish in a race where it has genuine claims—would feel like genuine progress. Fast Deal is a horse still in work at an age when many would have moved on, which speaks to a kind of stubborn optimism in its camp.
