The horse competes at Class 5, which is the entry level of British racing, and has raced there three times without winning. That context matters: these are not the most demanding races on the calendar, so breaking through at this level is the obvious next target. The yard, at least, is in decent form. Roger Teal operates out of Lambourn in Berkshire — one of the most famous training villages in the country — and has sent out 22 winners already this season, which shows the operation knows how to get horses ready to win. The question is simply when Far And Above will be ready to join that list.

What is mildly interesting here is the direction of travel. Going from finishing twelfth and eleventh to finishing fifth and then third suggests a horse that is learning and improving with experience. Whether that momentum continues into an actual win is the thing worth watching. Patience is clearly being rewarded in small steps — the next step just needs to be a big one.
