Fad Eadrainn

The first of those Clonmel wins came on 16 May 2024, which was also the horse's first career victory — a landmark moment that clearly unlocked something. That win was followed by another at Fairyhouse on 4 November 2025, confirming that Fad Eadrainn can perform at different venues when the mood takes. Seven places from 18 career races also tells you this is a horse that regularly finishes in the mix without always sealing the deal — competitive, consistent, but not always able to land the killer blow when it counts.

The partnership with jockey Simon Torrens is worth watching. Across 10 races together, they have won 2, a win rate of around 1 in 5 — which is meaningfully better than the horse's overall record suggests. When Torrens is in the saddle, something clicks. Trainer Patrick T Foley, based at Bagenalstown in Co. Carlow, has had 14 winners this season, so the yard is in decent form and clearly knows how to have a horse ready on the day.

Recent form tells an interesting story. The last six runs read 3-–-14-1-4-8, with that "1" — a win at Fairyhouse in November — sitting in the middle of some otherwise modest efforts. The horse has had a 41-day break since last racing, which is a short enough rest to suggest everything is fine rather than that something needed fixing. At eight years old, Fad Eadrainn is an experienced campaigner who knows the job. The question now is whether a fresher horse, back with Torrens, and ideally pointing back toward Clonmel, can find that best form again. The evidence says the talent is absolutely there.
