Eyeeye

The recent form tells the story plainly. In the last six outings, Eyeeye has recorded a fifth-place finish and a second, but mostly finished down the field—including a 17th and a 9th. That second-place finish is the highlight of its recent campaign, the closest it has come to breaking through since starting this current run. Jack G Gilligan, who rides the horse most often, has never managed to guide it to victory in seven attempts together, though he appears to be the jockey Clare Ellam's yard trusts with the ride. The trainer herself is operating a modest yard this season, having sent out just two winners so far, which puts Eyeeye's struggles in some context—this is not a powerhouse operation, and every win matters.

At six years old, Eyeeye still has racing years ahead, but time is gently working against a horse that has not yet found a winning formula. The question now is whether a change of approach—different conditions, a different race type, or a spark of better luck—might finally unlock that first victory. For now, it remains a horse that runs respectably but frustratingly falls short.
