The six-year-old has managed just one placed finish from four races, a third, which means the horse has threatened without delivering. The recent form string of 6-10-3 tells its own tale: after finishing well back in sixth and then tenth, that third-place effort represents a meaningful step in the right direction. Whether that improvement is the beginning of something or just a one-off remains to be seen, but with a race only yesterday, this is very much a horse in active campaign.
Eyecanboogie is trained by E McNamara at Rathkeale in County Limerick, and the yard is clearly in good health right now — 22 winners sent out this season is a solid return and suggests a team that knows how to get horses ready to run well. When a horse comes from a yard in that kind of form, even a modest record starts to look a little more interesting. Sometimes a horse just needs things to fall right, and being trained by someone who is clearly placing horses to win gives Eyecanboogie at least a fighting chance of getting off the mark.
