Eye Contact

The recent form tells a familiar story. In the last six races, Eye Contact has picked up a couple of place finishes (a second and another second) but otherwise struggled to threaten, with a ninth place and a couple of sixth-place finishes mixed in. Having just raced a day ago, the horse remains active on the circuit and clearly sound enough to keep returning. For a five-year-old with this record, that's actually the encouraging part: the yard aren't giving up, and the horse isn't picking up injuries. But the reality is stark — Eye Contact competes regularly but rarely gets the better of its rivals. Two places in twelve tries is the kind of record that suggests a horse operating at the lower end of the competitive range, racing for experience and the occasional moment of promise rather than for glory.
