Exceptionally
Exceptionally is a 2-year-old trained by Aidan O'Brien at his Cashel yard in Tipperary, and while the record sheet shows five races without a win, the form tells a more encouraging story. In those five outings, the horse has finished in the placings three times—second, fourth, third, third, and twelfth in its most recent start a day ago. That run outside the frame last time aside, Exceptionally has been knocking on the door consistently, picking up places in four of its first four races before things went wrong at the most recent attempt.Based on TrackLab's analysis

Our model's view, based on this horse's career and recent runs
O'Brien's yard has been in prolific form this season, already sending out 125 winners, so Exceptionally is operating in an environment where winning form is the norm. At just 2 years old, this horse is still finding its way at the track. The repeated placings suggest real ability—it is competing and running respectably in races it is being entered for—but has simply not quite managed to put it all together for a win yet. That twelfth-place finish last time is the kind of blip that can happen, especially for a young horse still learning the game. With O'Brien's record and the steady placing form before that slip, there is reason to think better days may be coming.
