Enoch

Trained by John and Thady Gosden at their Newmarket yard, Enoch is in about as good a set of hands as the sport offers. The Gosdens have sent out 136 winners this season alone, which gives you a sense of the scale and quality of the operation. When a yard that busy and that successful takes time to place a young horse carefully and send it out once, it usually means they like what they have at home.

At three years old and returning from a six-month break since that winning debut, Enoch is now at the age where the interesting decisions get made. The coming months will reveal whether last autumn's promise was a glimpse of something special or simply a young horse beating modest opposition on a good day. Either way, first time back on a track he has already won at is as gentle a reintroduction as you could ask for.
