The partnership with jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle has been given plenty of chances, covering five of those six races together without a win to show for it. That said, zero from five is not necessarily a damning verdict at this stage — young horses can take time to find their feet, and the fact that Ennoble raced as recently as yesterday suggests the team see enough to keep persisting.

Where Ennoble does have a serious advantage is in its surroundings. Trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien at Owning Hill in County Kilkenny, this horse is operating out of one of the most productive yards in the sport right now — 160 winners in a single season is a remarkable output and a sign of a stable firing on all cylinders. Horses trained by O'Brien are not placed in races without purpose, which means Ennoble's continued appearances are worth paying attention to, even if the breakthrough win has not arrived yet. When a yard of that calibre keeps running a horse, it usually knows something the record alone does not show.
