Emerald Harmony

Those two wins are worth noting individually. The first came at Tipperary in August 2024, and the second at Bellewstown in April 2025 — both Irish tracks, which raises an interesting question about whether a change of scenery suits this horse in a way that its regular surroundings do not. That Bellewstown win now sits 14 months in the past, and the six races since have brought a second, a third, a seventh, another third, a tenth, and a third — plenty of placing, no winning. It is the profile of a horse that gets close repeatedly without quite getting over the line.

Ben Coen has been the regular partner, riding Emerald Harmony in 11 of those 28 races and landing both wins — a rate of 2 from 11, or roughly 1 in every 5 and a half rides together. That is a notably better return than the overall career record suggests, and it points to a genuine working relationship between horse and rider. When Coen is in the saddle, something clicks.

Paul Midgley trains the horse from his yard in Westow, North Yorkshire, and by any measure this has been a productive season for the stable — 39 winners sent out already. Emerald Harmony has not added to that tally lately, but with a race just yesterday the horse is clearly being kept busy. Whether another win is coming is hard to say, but this is a horse that keeps finding its way into the frame, and in racing, that kind of reliability is not nothing.
