Trained by Jamie Osborne out of Upper Lambourn in Berkshire — a yard that has sent out 48 winners already this season, so clearly knows what it is doing — Em Four got its career off the ground at Chelmsford in January 2025 and has since made that track something of a second home. Two wins from five visits there is a 40% return, which in racing terms is genuinely striking. Most horses wander from track to track without ever developing a clear preference; Em Four seems to actively thrive under Chelmsford's lights.

The partnership with jockey Saffie Osborne is arguably the most interesting thread running through this horse's career. The family connection helps too: Saffie is Jamie Osborne's daughter, so there is presumably a level of communication between horse, jockey, and trainer that goes beyond the usual working relationship. Normal ground conditions suit it best: two wins from just four races on a standard surface hints that when the track plays fair, this horse is very hard to beat. Its most recent victory came at Wolverhampton two months ago, and with its last six runs reading 8-7-5-3-1-3 — including that win and a couple of close finishes — the form has dipped slightly but the effort clearly hasn't. Em Four raced just yesterday, which tells you everything: this is an active, busy horse with plenty of racing still to come.
