His record of 3 wins from 29 races, roughly 1 in every 10, might not leap off the page, but the quality of those wins absolutely does. He announced himself with a top-level Class 1 victory at Exeter in November 2021, followed it up with another Class 1 win at Newbury just three months later, and then — nearly four years on — proved he still had it by landing a Class 2 at Cheltenham in November 2025. That last one came about almost by accident: a scheduled run at Wincanton was lost when the meeting was cancelled, and Tizzard redirected him to Cheltenham on a whim. He won. "He jumped like a stag," Tizzard said afterwards. "It was a real pleasure to watch."

The Cheltenham victory is the most recent of his three wins, five months ago, and it highlights what makes Eldorado Allen tick. He goes particularly well when fresh — that is, when he hasn't raced for a while — and Cheltenham suits him like few tracks suit any horse. The team has clearly learned to read him, and Tizzard, who has trained him since the horse was four, speaks about him with the warmth you reserve for something genuinely special. His career earnings of £74,000 reflect a horse who has competed consistently at the very top level of the sport, even if wins have been hard to come by.

His most regular partner in the saddle, Brendan Powell, has been aboard for 24 of his 29 races and has been there for all three wins — a partnership built over years that clearly works. The Tizzard yard at Milborne Port in Dorset has been in excellent form this season, sending out 58 winners, and Eldorado Allen is very much still part of those plans. He raced just yesterday, and at a stage of his career when most horses have long since retired, he is still turning up, still jumping well, and still — occasionally — winning at the very highest level.
