El Waabil

El Waabil is a two-year-old in early training at Harry Eustace's Newmarket yard, where the trainer has already saddled 24 winners this season. The horse made its debut just a day ago and finished third, showing enough promise to warrant another outing. With only one race under its belt, there is little form to judge yet, but a competitive debut run suggests the horse has the basics right — it stayed the distance and ran respectably against established rivals. Eustace's yard is firing on all cylinders this season, which means El Waabil will have learned plenty from experienced handlers in an operation that clearly knows how to place young horses in the right races at the right time.
