The journey to this point had a slightly uncertain start. Skelton bought him from the Aga Khan's operation, and early on there were signs the horse had a tendency to overthink things — he was beaten at the Curragh in a run his team described as disappointing. The turnaround came at Galway on 30 July 2025, when jockey Georgie Benson rode him in blinkers for the first time and gave him a positive, front-running ride. Benson said he "travelled like a dream" that day, and something clearly clicked. Three wins have followed.

What makes Edelak particularly interesting is how well he handles a specific trip. At distances between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, he has won 3 of just 4 races — a 75% win rate at those trips. That is a remarkable conversion rate, and it tells you the yard has found exactly where he belongs. His most recent win came at Uttoxeter just two weeks ago, and he raced again only yesterday, so this is a horse in the middle of a busy, productive spell.

The bigger picture is also worth noting. Skelton's yard has sent out 198 winners this season alone — one of the most productive operations in the country — so Edelak is doing well even by the standards of a very busy, high-performing stable. When Skelton spoke about him earlier in the season, he flagged that the horse had good flat form and might be capable of stepping up in class, with a move into hurdling also on the horizon. A horse who wins 3 from 6, dominates at his best trip, and is actively being aimed at better races is one worth keeping a close eye on.
