Both wins are worth noting for what they reveal about the horse's range. The first came at York in July 2024 — a proper track, with a real atmosphere — which suggests there is at least some ability in there. The second arrived at Wolverhampton in January 2026, an all-weather circuit that rewards horses who simply keep showing up and running honestly. That Wolverhampton win was five months ago, and East Tyrone hasn't won since, finishing 7th, 3rd, 3rd, 9th, and 9th in its last five outings after that. The two recent 9th-place finishes are a slight concern, though the pair of thirds before that show it can still get into the argument.

Most of East Tyrone's races have come at Class 6, the entry level of British racing, where it has won 1 from 11 at that grade — about 1 in every 11 tries. That's a modest return even for that level, but placing 10 times in 31 races overall means it isn't simply making up the numbers. It competes, just rarely wins. Jockey Cam Hardie has been in the saddle for 9 of those races and has one win to show for it — around 1 in every 9 rides together, which is a fair reflection of where the partnership stands.

Trained by Philip Kirby out of East Appleton in North Yorkshire, East Tyrone is part of a yard that has sent out 36 winners this season, so the stable is clearly in decent form. The horse raced just yesterday, which means it's in an active spell right now. Whether another win is coming is hard to say — but at 4 years old, East Tyrone still has time to add to its tally, and the trainer clearly hasn't lost faith in it.
