Duty Bound

The first win came at Sandown Park in May 2022, and the most recent at Killarney in July 2025 — a full 12 months ago now, with nothing added to the tally across the last six races since. That kind of drought is not unusual at this level, but it does suggest a horse that needs things to fall right. Interestingly, when Duty Bound has lined up in its most common class of race — the bread-and-butter Class 4 contests that make up the bulk of the mid-tier calendar — it has won 1 from 4 (25%), which is actually a solid return. The problem is getting back to that winning feeling.

Regular partner Conor Stone-Walsh has been in the saddle for 7 of those 29 races, producing 1 win together — the same 1-in-7 ratio as the overall career record, which at least suggests the partnership is consistent, if not exactly electric. Recent form reads 5-–-12-–-2-5, meaning a second place tucked in there offers a hint that the engine is still running. Duty Bound raced just one day ago and remains active, so there is no suggestion of problems — this is simply a horse doing what many at its level do: showing up, competing honestly, and waiting for a day when everything clicks.
