Dusky Spyglass

Trained by Mike Murphy out of Westoning in Bedfordshire, Dusky Spyglass has spent its career competing at Class 4 level — the middle tier of British racing, where the competition is solid without being elite. Going 0 from 3 at that level tells you the horse has found things tough even at a standard that should be within reach. Murphy's yard is in decent health this season, having sent out 14 winners, so the expertise and momentum are there — Dusky Spyglass just hasn't been able to take advantage of it yet.

Last seen on a racecourse 18 days ago and still active, there is at least time for the story to change. At eight years old, patience is wearing thinner than it might for a younger horse still finding its feet, but racing occasionally throws up late bloomers. For now though, Dusky Spyglass remains one of those horses that keeps turning up without quite delivering — the four-race winless record is a simple fact, and it speaks for itself.
