The recent form does at least hint at some modest improvement. Reading from furthest back, the last six runs show the horse finishing third, then fourth, then ninth, then fourteenth, with two non-completions either side of that sequence. Third and fourth are the best results in the record, so there is a floor to how poorly Doyen Og performs — it is not simply making up the numbers at the back of the field every time. But those finishes have not yet translated into anything more meaningful.
Mr C Lamon has had the ride seven times, which is more than half of Doyen Og's career races, and the pair have yet to win together. That is a partnership that knows each other well at this point, without much to show for it. Trainer Adrian Sexton operates out of Athy in County Kildare and has sent out two winners this season, so the yard is capable of producing results — just not yet with this particular horse. Doyen Og ran just one day ago, meaning it is very much in active work, and there may be more chances to come.
