From there, Doyen Magic backed it up with a second win at Limerick in November 2025, suggesting the Kilbeggan victory was no fluke. Those two wins, separated by roughly four months, paint a picture of a horse that needed time to find their feet but has now worked out what racing is about.

Recent form backs that up. Reading the last six runs from most recent backwards — 2, blank, 2, blank, 1, 3 — there are gaps in the sequence where they may not have raced, but the performances that are there are solid. Two second-place finishes bookending a win, with a third just before that, tells you this is a horse regularly running well without always getting the result. The partnership with jockey Tiernan Power Roche is one to keep an eye on. That is often a sign that a jockey has figured out how to get the best from a particular horse.

Behind the scenes, trainer P J Rothwell runs a yard in Tinahely, Co Wicklow, that has sent out 35 winners already this season. That is a genuinely productive operation, and having Doyen Magic in that environment matters. A trainer in that kind of form tends to have horses in good order, and a horse already showing two wins and consistent placed efforts could be ready to add to that tally.
