Dolos Dream

The horse was first sent out to race last December at Newcastle, where it recorded its maiden win — a promising start for any young runner. Trainer Ivan Furtado, based at Wiseton in South Yorkshire, has built a solid yard this season with 43 winners to his name, so there is clearly experience and nous in the corner. What stands out about Dolos Dream's recent form is that it is mixing wins with places: five placings from seven races means it is finishing in the money regularly, winning roughly one race in every three outings. That consistency without dominance is the hallmark of a horse that belongs at its current level but has not yet found the key to winning more often. The real question is whether that last victory at Pontefract was the start of something, or simply a moment in a longer search for form. Having raced just one day ago keeps the horse sharp and active, which means we should know soon enough.
