De Bromhead is one of the most respected names in the sport, with a record built on patient handling and placing horses carefully. The fact that Doctor Confusion is returning after a seven-month break suggests the team has taken their time rather than kept running a horse that wasn't ready or wasn't right.

That layoff is probably the most interesting detail here. Seven months is a significant absence — long enough to suggest something needed to be fixed or simply that the horse needed time to mature. Whether this return marks a turning point is genuinely unknown, but horses do sometimes come back from a long break looking like a different animal. Doctor Confusion has given nothing away yet. The next run will at least tell us whether the time away has done any good.
