That one win came at Wexford in May 2024, and it remains the solitary peak on an otherwise consistent but frustrating career chart. Twenty-three months have passed since that day, which is a long time to be knocking on the door. The recent form tells its own story: across the last six races, Divaboriva has finished fifth, fifth, second, second, third, and sixth — always thereabouts, never quite over the line. Two runner-up finishes in that sequence are particularly telling. Close enough to smell it, not close enough to take it.

Mr A P Ryan has been the regular partner in the saddle, teaming up six times and winning once together — a win rate of around 1 in 6, which broadly mirrors the horse's overall record. That consistency between horse and rider matters; they know each other. The operation is trained by Jonathan Sweeney out of Kildinan in County Cork, a yard that has sent out eight winners this season and clearly knows how to place a horse to its best advantage. The fact that Divaboriva raced just one day ago and is already in the conversation again says something about how actively this team is searching for the right opportunity.

At seven, time is not infinite, but horses of this age can absolutely win races — they just need everything to fall right on the day. Divaboriva has shown enough in those two recent second-place finishes to suggest the ability is still there. Whether the win comes before the career total ticks much higher is the question worth watching.
