Distant Sun is a two-year-old still finding its feet in racing. The horse made its debut just a day ago and finished unplaced, which is not unusual for a first-time runner — most young horses need a race or two under their belt before they show what they can really do.
Ed Dunlop, who trains at Newmarket, has a strong yard behind him this season with 39 winners already, so there is solid support and experience in place. Whether Distant Sun will develop into something useful remains to be seen, but the early signs are what you would expect: a beginner learning the ropes on the track.
